PART I: GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE AGENCY
|The Missouri Board of Nursing currently approves 60 professional nursing degree programs, including 24 baccalaureate degree programs, 35 associate degree programs, and one diploma program. The Board also approves 42 licensed practical nurse (LPN) programs. Although the agency is responsible for all nursing programs in the state leading to initial licensure, its scope of recognition by the U.S. Department of Education applies only to the 60 professional nursing programs eligible for federal assistance under the Nurse Training Act of 1964, as amended, and not to its 42 LPN programs.|
The agency has had no complaints since the last review and no third party comments.
|The Missouri State Board of Nursing (MOSBN) has been a recognized state approval agency for nursing education since 1970. The agency's last full petition for continued approval was considered at the Fall 2012 NACIQI meeting. At that time, the Committee recommended that the agency's recognition be continued, that it be required to come into compliance with three issues within 12 months, and that it submit a compliance report on those remaining issues. That compliance report was presented at the Spring 2014 NACIQI meeting and accepted by the Senior Department Official in August 2014. The August 2014 Decision Letter acknowledged the MOSBN recognition by the Senior Department Official for a period of two and one-half years at which time a renewal petition will be submitted to the Department. The MOSBN renewal petition is the subject of the current review.|
